Now you can check-in to your hotel with a mobile wallet pass

Nowadays, you can’t get very far without a phone, especially when travelling. Hotel reservation? Look through your emails or on the booking app. Need to get from the train station to the museum? Find the route on Google Maps. In a new city and want some good coffee? Check the review app for recommendations. Hiring a city car? Just log into the app then scan your phone and you’re off!

But why does checking in to your hotel have to be so arduous? Imagine you’ve just been on a long and tiring flight, you finally arrive at your hotel, only to find a long check-in queue. You get to the front and you’re given a keycard, or worse, an actual key that you must not lose for the duration of your stay.

Mobile wallet pass: the new way

Lengthy front desk queues and fumbling for confirmation emails can be things of the past. With a digital pass stored in their phone’s wallet, travellers can simply tap their device to check into their hotel. You can even send the guest’s digital room directly to their device before they’ve even arrived, enabling guests to bypass the reception desk entirely.

Wallet passes are compatible with most digital wallets including Apple and Google, they even work on smart watches such as Apple Watch.

All digital = better security

A hotel mobile pass not only offers convenience but also ensures security. Unlike physical keys or keycards, digital passes are much more difficult to replicate. And if your device is lost or stolen, Apple and Google’s security measures allow users to deactivate the pass remotely.

Preference for contactless

The demand for contactless experiences continues to surge. Apple and Google Passes provide a completely touch-free check-in. By pairing with NFC-enabled door locks, guests can unlock their rooms with a simple tap—no need to handle shared keycards.

Multiple passes, one wallet

Travellers can store multiple passes, from boarding tickets to hotel check-ins in one centralised location on their phone. By being saved in a phone wallet pass, all necessary travel information is just a tap away and losing important documents is no longer a worry.

The sustainable option

High on the agenda of many hotels is the need to be sustainable. By replacing paper check-in documents and plastic keycards with digital passes, the industry is significantly reducing waste, not to mention the costs of physical cards and admin required to programme them.

Be ahead of the curve

Mobile wallet check-in is currently being implemented by the early-adopter hotels but since the public is clearly used to using their phones for everything, it is a technology which is likely to catch on quickly.

Are you a hotel owner looking to incorporate mobile wallet passes into the check-in experience?
